American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS specializes in study abroad programs in Russia and Eurasia. Since 1976, the Outbound Department has been designing and administering intensive Russian language study programs focused on advanced language and cultural immersion for undergraduate and graduate students. We strive to cultivate not only the linguistic skills of our students, but also their cultural knowledge and awareness. It is our belief that American Councils programs spur the personal and social growth necessary for students and teachers to contribute as responsible, motivated, and effective citizens in today’s global society. To that end, American Councils is committed to providing university students and teachers with outstanding study abroad experiences at first-rate institutions abroad, and insuring the safety and well-being of each participant with comprehensive student support services both stateside and in-country.
The Outbound Department currently administers four programs in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladimir, Russia: Russian Language and Area Studies, Contemporary Russia, Business Russian, and the Heritage Speakers Program. These programs serve not only those students who have already begun studying Russian language and culture, but also students and teachers who have never been exposed to either.
