Almost 75 years after Winston Churchill famously dubbed it ‘a riddle wrapped in an enigma,’ Russia continues to intrigue, confound, and often mystify Western observers. Designed to give participants new insight into the country today, Contemporary Russia explores the rise of the oligarchs, economic and political developments under Vladimir Putin, the role of the mass media in society, and new cultural phenomena sweeping across Russia.

Summer Russian Language Teachers Program

Summary

This summer, spend six weeks at the Russian State Pedagogical University (Herzen) studying Russian language, pedagogy, and culture with other pre- and in-service Russian language teachers. Finalists receive substantive Fulbright-Hays funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
